An exhibition of Hans Hinterreiter（1902-1989） is being held at Kunst- und KulturZentrum Littau-Luzern, Switzerland.
In 1993, HIRO GALLERY held the first exhibition of Hinterreiter in Japan.
HIRO GALLERY / HANS HINTERREITER EXHIBITION in 1993Jacob Bill and David Bill, whose works are also displayed in this exhibition, are the direct descendants of Max Bill, an artist who was in close relationship with Hinterreiter.

Hinterreiter spent most of his life in Ibiza island, Spain. He devoted himself to cultivation, playing music and making art works. He believes beauty of shape was resident in the line. By combining the geometrically defined lines, Hinterreiter strictly created a linear repertoire of 6,000 elementary forms. He integrated the basic forms and the number of the compositions rapidly increased into millions. Including the choice of colors, he carefully thought over the combination. Being opposite of the accidental one, His mathematical method of making art works affected the computer art in a later period.
